Using the wrong gender facilities

Posted 2011-05-14 by uniloo 1 voters
There are a number of situations where it might be necessary to use facilities normally dedicated to use by the opposite sex. This poll aims to gauge the reaction to some scenarios where this can happen.

Scenario #1. You are in a fast food restaurant or bar where the toilets are relatively busy and the Gents (mens room for those in the USA) is out of order (actually broken awaiting repair, not just temporarily closed for cleaning). There is a sign "Please use the Ladies" on the door of the Gents. You need to urinate, what is your reaction to this situation and what do you do.
I am male and I would have no problems using a cubicle/stall in the Ladies
100.0% (1)
I am male would not be happy using the Ladies, so would go find a toilet elsewhere.
0.0% (0)
I am female and would have no objections to males sharing the Ladies in the circumstances, so would use the Ladies.
0.0% (0)
I am female and do not like the idea of males sharing the Ladies, even in these circumstances, but would use the Ladies even though males might be in there at the same time.

I am female and do not like the idea of males sharing the Ladies, even in these circumstances. Before using the Ladies, I would check that no men were using it and then get a friend to guard the door to stop any males coming in while I was in the Ladies.

Scenario #2a. Similar to the #1 but this time it is the Ladies which is out of order, and there is a sign on the door telling females to use the Gents. The Gents has urinals on open view to the room as well as a small number of cubicles.
I am male and would have no problems with females sharing the Gents. I would use a urinal even though females might see me.

I am male and would have no problems with females sharing the Gents, but would not be happy with female being able to see me while using a urinal, so would use a cubicle/stall even if there was a queue/line for them and there was a urinal free.

I am male and would have no problems with females sharing the Gents, and even though I would have no problems with females seeing me at the urinal, would use a cubicle in order not to offend any females.

I am male, and would not be happy with sharing the Gents with females, but would use the urinals anyway and try and ignore the presence of any females.

Scenario #2b. As #2a but in addition there is a notice on the door of the Gents saying "In deference to the presence of women, Gentlemen please use the cubicles and do not use the urinals." Would the presence of this notice change your action or reaction from that in #2a?
I am male and the presence of the notice would not change my action from that in #2a.
0.0% (0)
I am male and would obey the instructions and use a cubicle, no matter how many people were waiting in line for the cubicles.
100.0% (1)
I am male and would obey the instructions only as long as there was not too long a line for the cubicles. If there were too many waiting, I would use a urinal.

Scenario #3. You are a member of a sports team, or an individual, competing in a large single sex competition. Owing to the large number of competitors, both gender's changing/locker rooms are being used. You are having to use the changing/locker room normally used by the other sex. While you are changing, and before actually starting to compete, you need to go to the toilet/bathroom. Do you..
I am male and I would use the toilets in the (female) changing room I was in.
100.0% (1)
I am male and I would go into the male changing room and use the toilet.
