Hi guys and girls, very interesting poll it's a shame I didn't discover it earlier.
Bladder capacity and flow rates between the sexes has been fascinating to me since I was a child. So much so, that it lead on to becoming a pee fettish for me. I read these posts with great interest, particularly the posts from Trina and the other large bladdered females.
I realise the poll was created from a medical aspect but I feel it is very closely linked to my "other" activities. My main reason for this post unfortunately might be considered SPAM but it is intended for those who are genuinly interested in peeing, capacity, flowrates and associated habits.

Bladder Capacity -- who can hold more, guys or girls??
Having seen a poll on female bladder capacity, I'm curious to find out how guys and girls compare to each other in that area, as well as what exactly motivates people to measure that sort of thing...

Inflated Bladder Capacities?
As noted by others the values of greater that 2 Liter maximum bladder capacity by 40% of the female respondants and the claim of greater than 1 Liter normal voiding volume as recorded in this poll are bogus.
The obstetrics literature has tons of information on this fact. The average volume seen in the "full" bladder of young females undergoing their first ultrasound for pregnancy is approximately 500 mL (i.e. 0.5 L). Likewise, recordings of pee time data from "toilet cams" (cameras that are hidden in the toilet bowl)indicates typical female voiding volumes are 350 - 500 mL.
One more thing, Kelly Cat..
I grew up on a farm too -- so I know what you are talking about (hee hee).
Your post was pretty correct except that men definetly have much stronger urethral sphincters -- these have been measured by urologist for years (see previous post)
You are also correct on the rate at which a women pees -- it is considerably greater than a man.
A typical women should be able to pee at a rate of greater than 25 mL/second (and I know women who can do 40 mL/sec) while men usually go ata rate of 15 - 20 mL/sec.
Because men have stronger urethal sphincter muscles (see previous post) they can usually hold more urine
BTW the results of this "poll" are meaningless for both sexes -- people are just putting down BLL SHT and lying through their bladders).
So if a man has more urine and pees slower he will take a lot longer to pee.
Most women can typically empty their bladder in 15 - 25 seconds -- men take 40 - 60 seconds. (of course there are exceptions to every generalization).
Many women do not even have to "push" (i.e. flex their detensors) to urinate they just have to relax their urethral sphincter and they have flow. Men have to push --often hard to start their flow.
Since pee "comes out" of women so easily compared to men they have to work harder to keep it "in". And so when a women "leaks" it is usually a greater volume of urine per leak than for a man with his smaller flow.
Finally as to distance. Yes many women can pee for good distance (some more than 8 feet maybe more) because their urethra is short and uniform in its diameter. That is they have a straight, short, and smooth "pipe".
Men have to pee though a "tube" about 3 times longer. But the worst problems is that the male urethra tends to constrict as it goes through the prostate.
So a male is peeing with a small hose (prostate area) in to a larger hose (pen-s) area so his pressure drops off at the end.
Now listen up GUYS and consider this. I can pee about 4 feet if I just pee "regular" but if I gently "squeeze off" the head of my pen-s -- like putting your finger over the end of a garden hose -- I can spray out a hard stream nearly 12 feet! And I'm sure that I could improve on that - if I was much interested in it -- which I'm not.
So guys if you want to outpee your girl friend for distance there is your answer! (warning the tip of your pen-s might tingle a bit from the water pressure blasting out so don't overdo it). (<:
But be advise you will never match your girl on her pee flow rate!!

How do they do it?
It's painful for me to store 1200ml in my bladder and my belly totally bulges out. It will not hold more than that. How can I make it bigger? rMuymdagiluy
still say wome can hold it better
Although men may have a slightly larger bladder. I do believe that women use there capcity to the fullest. Our urethrea goes right down and thefore our bladder is always emptied to the fullest. Therefore there is no residue. Just ask a woman to pee after she has gone. Most women cannot pee even a drop for at least an hour, but a man can always pee a couple of drops or more. Therefore the answer is man may have a larger bladder, but women as alwyays use what they have more wisely. That being the case women will pee less often then men, but will utilize any opportunity not to get caught short.
Reguarding my actual veiws on womens toilet habits....
Hello everyone,
I noticed something once the problem of HTML code showing up in the posts was fixed, and I could read them as they were written by the authors....
(and not as a single long paragraph of words mixed with computer coded gobble-dee-gook)
Many people seem to have read too much into what I say about our toilet habits when compared to guys.
I think alot of this has to do with the way I may have been putting some of my points accross.
My day job is at a computer store/repair shop.
But I also do alot of other things on the side.
One of the things I am studying is advertisements (commercial advertisements) and their influence on collective human behavior.
Another is on the effect color, and sound has on shopping patterns and psychological states...
By the way, did any of you know that colors like red increase the likly hood of a product being purchsed? That people tend to eat more when the food is green? Or that weight lifter lift less weight when in a pink room? A smoker is more likely to smoke after seeing an image of a long object being placed in a round hole?
One of the things I do is work with a group of people who have gotten together to build a suite of computer programs we are designing for use to-
1.) Evaluate the behavior of a group of people over time.
2.) Produce a computer model of the various...
... motives, deterants, benifits, costs, advertisements (by this I am not refering to commercial advertisements per say, but rather "object advertisments" - i.e. the way in which an object, oppotunity, or choice - by viture of it's availibility and the awareness a person experiences of it - can encourage or deter an individuals behavior and affect behavior trend within a group), practical incentives, social influences, and environmental factors...
...which influence or cause the elements of the evaluated pattern of behavior to interact as they do.
3.) - eveluate the validity of a pre-exsisting model by comparing it to the behavior of actual people in a situation were controlable factors have been put in place.
4.) Suggest corrections and identify possible "unaccounted for" influences in a model that proves to be invalid.
5.) Use a pre-exsisting or constructed model which was previously created and validated to forecast the behavior of a group of individuals in a virtual enviroment.
6.) Identify possible changes in the model to produce a desired result, or avoid an undesired result.
7.) Evaluate how purposed changes might affect the dynamics, behavior, and outcome of a real world situation by observing how changes affect results with-in the model.
In short, a vitual model for experimenting with human behavior.
The human behavior equivelant of of "virtual chemicals" as used in chemical reaserch.
We are not an official organization, but rather a group of individuals with varying degrees of interest in being able to produce a suite of computer programs capable of doing what we are asking of it.
The envisioned result is a computer model that from it's default representation mode will resemble a 3-d virtual enviroment, which can then be "switched" to display the data of the model in various graphical and text based ways to represent and compare different environments factors. And which can be used on human behavior in much the same was as a computer model of a virtual molicule, vitual structure, or atmospheric whether model...is used to predict weather, test the theoretical behavior of a chemical, or evaluate purposed changes to a building or other structure.
We are borrowing elements from several other areas of reaserch .. including - CBR (Case Based Reasoning), and the Edith vitual machine, (the program used to create The Sims)
Because of the way alot of use speak when working with each other on this project...I sometimes refer to things as "thoughts"...when in all actuality it would be more correct to call them "unconsious notions" or "unconsious suggestion"
So.. for example...
The things I said about the tendancy for ladies to wait longer before responding to the urge to urinate...
I talked about them as if they were consious descisions...
As most of the girls reading this probably already assumed ....
For most women...
They are either unconsious (things that you do not know are going on in your mind)
Or sub-consious (things that go through your mind without you realizing until you think about it..)...
Sub-consious things are often a repeat of something that the person thought consiously as a child... and now the person repeats the thought unconsiously unless something causes there consious mind to decide against it due to a current reason not to...
In the case of the later the person is aware of the though... but doesn't realize what they're thinking and forgets about it after the decisions are made and they have moved on to something else...
Other, "rationalizations" (things that go on in other parts of our mind to make a decision seems to make sense...) obscure the sub-consious thoughts...and seem to appear to be the reason for the behavior...
Often times people (in general) do alot of things with out really paying attention to why they are doing them...
BUT---
I did not feel the need to explain this, because to me it did not seem to need explaining.
But I know most women who read what I wrote would realize that-
-for a person to behave the way I described CONSIOUSLY would suggest the person was either immature, ignorant, or had a psychological problem.
and I assumed the men would realize this also.
One poster even suggested that my friend Shelly should have seen a counsilor.
So, I did not feel the need to clarify that what I am refering to for the most part is differences in the kinds of decisions men and women make without paying attention...or realizing what they are doing...on a sub-consious level.
I took it as a given that you would know I am talking about unconsious notions, and sub-consious thought habits.
I also tend to use the term "many" to say that there are more than a few, and they are not hard to find... it is enough of an occurance to not be uncommon.
But I guess from reading the responses I have gotten that alot of people are taking my use of the word "many" to mean "most"...and that is not what I usually mean by it.
Anyways, alot of what I think about on a day to day basis has to do with habits, behavior patterns, feeling, and "social suggestions" (what notions something is associated with or what it suggests on some level - even though most people are smart enough not know it doesn't make sense consiously).
So, maybe my work is affecting the way I explain things to other people...as well as what i assume does not need explaining...
That is all for now...

Before there is any further misunderstanding
The first thing I want to tell someone before mis-uderstanding further increases...
The project we are working on has nothing to do with my veiws on toilet habits...
other than... as I pointed out...
influence the way I think on a day to day basis...
The people I work with have not done any type of study on male vs. female toilet habits of any kind...
There is no reason for us to...
I happen to study toilet habits on my own for fetish/watersports related rerason...
But I doubt if any of the others in the group would care to incorporate what I beleive in the reaserch we are using for our project...
If they knew... they might think I was weird...
The projects main priorities at this point have to do with studying shopping patterns, and how much money customers are likely to spend...
... and how this may be influenced by thing like the arrangement of a store.
Some of us have incorporate some rather off the way ideas into the computer model...
Such as one man who used data from a study of color's effect on athletic performance...
But I doubt that if I tried to incorporate my toilet habits veiws into our project I would be able to do so with out seeming wierd....
So do not get the impression that I am claiming to be involved with any kind of computer model which has tested or confirmed my ideas...
I have not...
I work with a group who's project on trying to model human behavior might very well be able to test my notions...
But there is no way I for see at this time to be able to use their resources for such a study without raising too many question....

Rest of Trina's points
Trina you made some points that I did not answer as Calloway also posted a big note.
Quickly here are my best shots at them -- they are good question but not readily answered in a unambiguous way:
Trina: Many women have a habit of holding as close to our limit as we can, whatever that limit may be...
I can beleive 1000ml because I have achieved it, without involutary leakage...If she learned to get used to the discomfort involved...she may very well habitually hold 1000ml simply because she habitually holds till she's about to wet her pants...
Fargo: this might well happen in some cases. You for example, trained your bladder -- I trained mine. But the point is if MOST women did this they the AVERAGE bladder size for women would be 1000 mL not 350 - 650 mL My point is only that this is not the usual state of affairs.
You say holding as close to our limit as we can -- that would seem to imply to me a lot more fidgeting than I see typically. It would also imply to me LOTS of accidents as a person on their limit have no margin of safety and would be subject to an accident everytime the days schedule did not work out. Traffic jam, missed ride, meeting going over etc etc. (more on this below)
Trina: What you see when studying patients with problems does not nessasarily reflect what you see when you look at young healthy adults...
Fargo: Definately true no argument.
Trina: So please educate me... I want your opinion because you seem to have better credentials than everyone else who is using anecdotal whatever...
What does this 350ml-650 ml figure represent?
The point at which the urge to micturate is felt?
The volume a bladder can hold before having to streach to accomidate more?
The point at which involuntary refexes force the urine out of the body?
Fargo: All good questions but not something answered yes or no or simply either.
The normal size comes from huge data base collected by the urology medicals during the course of scientific studies.
The first urge -- is a measured medical parameter always measrued in any incontinence study -- it varies all over the map. (I know mine happens at almost exactly at around 650 mL)
Trina: The volume a bladder can hold before having to streach to accomidate more?
Fargo: I would say any increase in volume results in an increase in size as the bladder expands to meet the need.
Trina: The point at which involuntary refexes force the urine out of the body?
Fargo: This must vary greatly with the individual. In training your bladder you clearly trained you voluntary controls too I am sure.
Trina: What is your answer to the documented case of a woman who when anesthitized built up 1485ml of urine in her bladder, apperently because the anesthesia prevented the normal micturation reflex from taking place?Note also that at 1485ml she was not leaking at all, instead the condition was brought to the attention of a physician, who promptly cathederized the patient.
Fargo: You really answered your own question I suspect that the contraction and release mechanisms were not functioning -- however if your mean to to suggest that therefore all women can retain urine up to 1500 mL -- that clearly is not the case. In fact if that were even remotely true than you would not have had to go to all the effort that you did. (<:
This observation is not without precident.
Many male patients have to be catherized in order to void the first time after abdominal surgery because they can not get their mictruation reflex to function. If they are helped dangerous levels of urine will build --far beyond what they could voluntarily retain.
Trina: But now tell me... how much could she hold before exceeding 100 cm-H2O?
Fargo: The bigger her bladder the more she could contain before reaching 100 cm-H20. Pressure is proportinal to Volume.
Trina:And to what degree is that figure affected by involutary contractions of the bladder?
Fargo; Since we are dealing with a living organism I would think greatly.
Trina: Could the pressure be reduced by calming the bladder, or fidgeting to distract the nervous systems reflex?
I have found that alternatly keeping still, rocking, fidgeting, and walking around seem to keep my bladder from contracting...and I have become quite good at timing when to do what when I feel a "surge" about to come on?
Fargo: For sure. I do similar things it helps.
Trina: and what if she took that bladder, and "streached it" a little at a time?
By that I mean, holding 650ml regulerly till it became easier, then trying for 675ml, or 680ml? Then when that became easy, 700ml or 710ml?
Fargo: Then over time she would have a bladder like yours -- capacious (<:
Trina: I trained my bladder capacity up to 1450ml as a teen-ager between 1995 and 1999...[detailed description of how you did this]...Bottom line is... the streach from 650ml to 2L may be impossible at one go...but what if she did it like I did?
Fargo: My answer would be a qualified yes. Keep in mind not everone has the same biological potential. Another girl could follow your technique exactly and end up stopped at day 800 mL.
Consider myself for example I had no formal plan but my bladder evolved because I developed bad bladder habits and as I continued to practice putting it off my capacity grew --leading my to put if off longer and so forth.
It is known that capacity can be increase and urologist have dozens of plans for doing it for patients.
Trina -- now I have a question for you. Why did you do this -- work soe hard to train your bladder? You do not have to have an answer but I was just wondering. I find it useful to be able to go long period at work outside for example -- I never need a restroom on planes or at sports events so its handy of course. But you went to a LOT of work to get there.
Also your friend (Shelly?) what would motivate a person to go from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm with at the vary least a dull sensation coming from her bladder? I can not imagine it to be pleasant to any degree at least. I would guess that she was not properly hydrated during these times or she had a 3- 4 L bladder. What do you think?
More on the limits thing. I am an election judge for our county and we vote from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm (it ridiculous but that's our state law). So I typically sit there all day handing out ballots and making rulings on who can vote when a conflict with the regulation arises -- I usually take only one restroom beak at lunch --those things can be embarrassing as you do not want to look like a "freak". But its kind of become a little joke and our group of 4 (two males and two females) has been handling that precinct for four years.
The poll place is apartment complex party room and the there is an insurance company renting space there -- there are usually about 8 - 10 young girls there doing all the office stuff -- so I when things are boring I watch the girls. I can see the rest rooms from the polling table and so I just sit and record how often they go to the rest room and how long they are in there. Weird? Nonetheless they all tend to go at least once in the morning and most tend to go twice in the afternoon -- the second time before going home. If this is holding to a limit is not a draconian one anyway. Just my thoughts -- I've beed doing that for years. I've convinced my fiancee that it is due to evolution and she does not care -- in fact I tell her about it.
You are an intersting person Trina.

Woman With Large Bladder
OMG! My husband showed me this poll last night and all I can say is you can find anything on the internet if you search long enough. While I can't pass judgement on what looks like highly suspicious statistics, I should make a comment to Calloway that there are indeed a few of us women out here who are literally endowed with large bladders through genetics or fluke. I am a 24 year-old woman with a mesomorphic build, tallish about 5'10" and 130lbs., of northern European decent. Even as a chld I needed to pee at very infrequent intervals but when I did it was at high volumes. This continued into my school years and even became the source of teasing and comments among my friends. By the time I met my husband I was used to the "do you have any idea how much you pee" quip by men.
There also seems to be a lot of scientific minutiae and maybe a little male ego going on here with some of the messages. If this is any help, my bladder easily holds over nearly a liter before sending me a dull throb which is easily managable to the 1350-1500ml range. My routine is to hold it until bedtime around 11pm so subjectively, these figures while not routine, aren't all that unusual. However on atypical situations, such as a long 10 hour flight or a long car trip I am at Calloway and Calloway+ urination figures (I had to throw that in after reading all his messages.)
One last point to the men. We women do not all urinate with a single big woosh. When I really have to go I tend to do it in segments, which is to say I'll go for a while-stop- go for a while-stop... This can really add up the total pee time and astonish more than a few folks who don't expect a stream to start up for the fourth or fifth time.
That's probably more information than anyone wants to know. Interesting poll.
Gray's Anatomy
Check the latest version of Gray's under
the urinary system. It states that the
female bladder is more capacious than
that of the male in two places.
It states the pelvic bones are hollowed
out more in women to allow the fetus's
head to pass through. The male bladder
starts out as 5 inches high and 3 inches
wide, but the female bladder is wider
that it is high. Both bladders fill from
the bottom; however, the female bladder
does not fill up vertically until it is
much more distended than that of the male. As the bladders rise, they put
pressure against the abdomen which give
the feeling of fullness.
Thus, women have more space between the
bones and their bladder can fill horizontally in two dimensions. That's the reason for the larger capacity.
Facts on Human Bladders.
The claim that 38% of the females and 15% of the males can hold 2 liters of urine is impossible. (The same applies to those who think that they habitually void over 1 L -- whoever you are send in the proof of that -- do you keep a measuring cup in you bathroom? (<:)
The comments made by "Calloway" on this messageboard are pretty accurate for a non-medical person (No offense to "Calloway" if you are a medical person!).
The claim is of 38% females with a greater than 2 L capacity is absurd.
In the urology clinic (associated with a major University Med School) where I work there are 6 docs. They see hundreds of patients a week.
If you take out the bladder cancer patients -- at least 80% of those remaining patients are female and the main problem that they have is incontinence -- i.e., involunatry loss of urine (there are many forms of this disorder).
Because of this there is much more data on normal versus abmormal for female bladders than male.
Here are some facts -- instead of the Misterpoll nonsense.
A normal bladder size for a women (or a man) would be greater than 350 mL (0.35L) to 650 mL. (larger than 650 mL is a large bladder -- a 2 Liter bladder would be very very unusual-- a few percent if that -- it would be a freaky thing. I do not recall one ever being seen at our clinic -- however 2 L of urine can happen with a urethra becomes blocked and then a life threating situation can arise).
Now lets assume that a women has a 650 mL bladder -- some women might well be able to volunarily hold their urine past the normal micturation point and therefore exceed the 650 mL volume. But how much past 650 mL?
A normal continent adult female can generate between 50 to 100 cm-H20 of pressure at her urethra opening (cm-H2O is a pressure unit used in the study of bladders) with her voluntary muscles.
So in normal situations -- depending on the women -- she should be able to can contain her badder until the pressure inside exceeds 50 -100 cm-H2O pressure -- after that she will start losing urine involuntarily -- i.e. start wetting herself.
Like everyhing else - there is biological variability. So some women might be able achieve higher urethral pressures but their is no way the 40% of those female respondents in this poll (most of whose bladders a approximately 0.65 L) will be able to achieve streatching an 0.65 L bladder to 2 L (this would require pressure that would exceed biological expectations by a good margin).
The same would be true for the males.
However, I believe that the data shows that males typically can achieve higher urethral pressures beause they have a 20 cm uretethra -- much longer than the 3 - 5 cm urethra of women. Thus, the comment by calloway the males have a biomechnical advantage is correct. that is why at least 80 of incontinence patients are females.
It is harder to measure male urethra pressue as the urethra can only be accessed via a catheter. So I know less about it.
A second problem for women in this regard is that they have less room in there. "Calloway" is right again women have a uterus crowding their bladder.
Finally, the larger diameter of the female urethral also results in more leakage.
Women typical void at a rate that is greater that 25 mL per second. Male void at something like 10 - 15 mL per second (again this varies -- some women have lower rates - some men higher) But this means when a woman has an involuntary leak - it tends to be a much bigger leak than when it happens in a man.
Sorry girls but you pee your pants more than the guys.
And I find it interesting that the girls found it necessary to fib more on this poll than the males -- I thought male were the ones with hang ups!!! (<:
Also I found the comments by "evekask" to be curious. I can not imagine a medical school doing the experiment that she describes. If you can I would like to her the details of this research. What university was it done at?
Finally, I would like to ask Calloway also how he measured his bladder capacity as that volume he mentions (2.2L) wound be very unusual. However as his other data is correct I am asuming that this was a measured volume.
New Start --Trina & Calloway
Wow, I liked all of your notes. Trina I'm glad you added some comments from the female side.
To clear the air I am about Trina's age 28. I work for a urology group but I am a biochemist by training so I do not spend my day inserting microtransducers in to ladies' urethras. I would do it if forced to I suppose! (<:
Also truth and honesty -- I claimed 10 years experience -- only 6 of that is strictly in a urology. I've worked in a hospital and clinical setting since the last years of high school though
I will be entering med school this fall (accelereated program) and yes I'm planning on specializing urology. My girl friend is a nurse in the clinic she does do that and work with patients.
(side note -- I have been requested to note that she is not my "girl friend" but my fiancee!!! I agree with this assessment.)
Anway my soon-to-be has reviewed all these posts and agrees with some of Trina's comments and disagrees with some. Mainly her experience - esp. that in the workforce would say that urine holding is less common even among women she knows than Trina's experience. (see note at the end)
I've tried to get her to write her opinions on this but so far no luck.
Can I suggest that we kind of summarize all our notes?
1)First of all neither of you two are normal! Sorry but holding urine beyond 1.5 L is not normal for anyone. No offense -- it is fine that you can do that -- in fact great. But you cannot use your experiences to judge others by.
Perhaps my fiancee and I are more "normal" in this regard.(She already knows that her bladder capacity is between 650 to 750 mL because she had been a normal control at the clinic many times. -- and she can creat nearly 90 cm-H2O of uretheral pressure which accounts for her good control. She could probably exceed this volume by using physical measures too.
We my volume for this poll actually and I did make it to approximatly similar levels of volume about 770 mL but I knnow that I could top that -- if I really had to. I estimated before the test that I could hold 900 mL. I gave it all the effort it was worth to me at the time but I was definately not in a loss of control situation. I did not use any clutching or shaking -- but I did move around and wiggle at the end. We have never had a contest-- but maybe we will sometime.
2)we all agree that neither the males or the females who claim 2L max capacities are truthful -- but this is not a scientific poll --in fact it is kind of a game really with no controls. My girl friend voted using my computer without even reloading the site -- right after me and it was counted so the some people might have vote 20 times who knows?
3) we wonder what the actual size of normal bladders is and we wonder if there is a sex difference. Both of you (Trina and Calloway) have "grown" your bladders. If most women practiced extreme holding every day then maybe 2L capacities and 1 L voidings would be the rule for all women -- but they are not.
We know that the size of the bladder is determined by both genetics and by the habits of its owner. My girl friend agrees that many girls seem to delay using the restroom --especially at highschool age but doubts that most it to the levels that Trina believes -- that is routinely holding to the point just short of having an accident. In fact, think about it -- the world is an uncertain place -- if all women really did that we would see lots of accidents because day to day schedules get messed up often.
Also, related to this fact. Trina you describe a friend who, apparently typically, went from 6 am to 10 pm with out a leak? Did she drink no water day during the work day? Because if she had "normal" kidney function that would have meant that she would have had more than 2L of urine in her bladder when she finally voided every night. If she drank no water the she would dehydrate rather quickly -- if she drank with normal hydration I would expect even more that 2L in her bladder at the end of the day. I would call that pattern abnormal in the extreme.
For example, I did take part in a kidney function test at the clinc once and after I was hydrated I was producing over 500 mL urine in just over 2 hours. (If your friend was hydrated she should have a 4L load to void at 10 pm!!!)
Likewise Trina, you suggest that most men void only 250 mL at a time? Where did you get that number from? That is clearly not true. Even in this MisterPoll only 7% of guys marked that volume catagory. I stand beside many men to pee every day (I'm not a prevert but I do look at their flows - strictly medical interest -- this statement has been approved for release -- JJM!!)
(<: (<:
I know that a typical man pees at around 15 mL/sec and most of them are standing there 30 - 45 seconds with a pretty normal stream. Thus, from anecedotal evidence I put the typical male voiding at from 450 - 675 mL per voiding.
Myths and Erotisism:
Many myths about about male female differences and those of urine and bladder are also erotic. The is nothing wrong with that and our interest in each other's urinations is a carry over from evolution and it is normal and healthy.
But there is myth and fact. Men are very erotically moved by women needing to urinate -- so they make up stories about it to answer this need -- women write them too and they also enjoy these stories. But some of this is myth -- it women had unlimited capabilites then why would they ever have an accident and the erotisism might be diminshed?
But you do not have to go to bladders and urine. If you asked the average girl who has longer legs boys or girls -- I would bet my life on 90% of the girls saying that they do. In fact, there is a multimillion dollar industry called anthropmetry which is the measurement of human body proportions. This data is in heavy demand by all industries who make things to fit the human body --ergonomics. Fact the inseam to height ratio for males is 0.57 - 0.61 for females 0.59 - 0.60 (upper and lower 5% is always removed from the data set to get 90th percentile fitting). No difference.
Why do girls seem to have longer legs? They are slimmer thus look longer -- optical illusion, they wear shoes that adds 1 - 4 inches to their inseam and they wear their pants tight up against their crouch --something not advised for males. There you have it.

Bladder Capacity
Hi couple of things. Neat poll -- but I think some are "playing games". You should redo this poll with some modifications.
Here are my considered opinions on human bladders:
A. No way can 40% of females hold MORE THAN 2 L of urine. Less than 5% of the human population can do that. That number is either gross overestimation by those who did not measure or someone getting fantizing (maybe males are sending these numbers in for the womem because it is an erotic thought?).
B. Commanly accepted medical definition of bladder size: US adults small bladder <250 mL; "normal" bladder 350 - 600 mL; large bladder >650 mL.
C. Overall view form 4 major US anatomy texts male and female bladders are about the same size but different shape so exact comparison is hard. Several text say it would look like bladders of males, if anything, are larger.
D. The physiology of function and the histology (of the three tissue layers) of the male and female bladder are essentially identical -- meaning neither would "stretch" farther.
E. The male urethra appears to have a biomechamical advantage over the female arrangement-- all things equal possibly allowing higher closure pressure. This is conjecture by some urologists. (in later life 90 % of incontinence problems are female)
F. The urethra of the female is much shorter and much larger diameter. They put out much greater urine flow rate than men but that has nothing to do with stored volume.
G. From 6 years of empolyment as a bouncer at a University all night bar I have seen perhaps 20 female "accidents". All of them appeared to be in the range of about 500 - 600 mL before their "dam broke" (some were drunk some could not get to the loo in time), I recall one or two that MIGHT have been a 1 L(tops).
H. As to the frequency of accidents. Females are much more careful about making sure they are not "caught short" also they will make a maximum effort not to be embarrassed so they play it much more safe. And they will hold on at all costs. Males are less concerned. Still would say I saw as many coed accidents as men even given the fact that bars have rough 2:1 male advantage in numbers.
(reason -- men just head for the street if the john is full -- girls have to think about that.)
I. I not in the dating thing anymore but I do not recall a single female (maybe 20 - 25 woomen?) who I dated over many years that would out wait me (other an occasional time when I might have started drinking with a half full bladder already)in going to the head.
J. For the record -- I am in the very large bladder catgory. My bladder sends me a "signal" at about 650 - 850 mLs (years ago I measured this many times). If I wait an additional 4 more hours, drinking normally) I am uncomfortable but in full control then I can output about 1.2 - 1.4 L. The maximum measure volume that I did was 2.2L and that was a stupid thing to do as my bladder was in "trauma" for a week later.
I would design a new poll and make people give some kind of proof of measurement -- those that are guessing I would eliminate. But I doubt you'll get honest answers this is too kinky of a topic. Fun though!
my capacity is...
So I took the poll a few days ago and somewhat estimated my max $%!@... I know I've filled several water bottles before, but never actually tried measuring a "max capacity." I just drank a bunch of water and waited... watched some pee videos, and waited some more. When I finally decided I wouldn't be able to stand up without accidentally peeing (so this is a "no hands hold" here) I grabbed a few bottles out of my recycle and headed to the bathroom. When I filled up three bottles (the labels said 500ml each) and still had to pee, I grabbed a larger container. I peed for a bit longer, by now mostly drained, then poured the other bottles into this one. It almost reached the top. This Langers cranberry juice bottle said 64 fl oz or 1.89 liters. I guess I was right when I estimated in the 1500-2000ml category. I'll try a few more times over the next week or so and keep y'all posted... that is IF anybody is interested.

On My Points
Trina
Thanks for your comments but I am a little suprised at some of your comments -- I think you are sometimes creating a less than palusible explination for some things:
First, earlier I had described how over the years I had routinely delayed going to the restroom before dates -- i.e. forcing them to go first.
Your answer was that this was highly unusual --I do not know that it is actually. What is you proof of that? My general impression on double and larger dates is there was not pattern -- the only thing for sure was that I was usually the last to go.
Then you said the reason for this was that I naturally picked out women with weak bladders. ???
I asked how that could possibly be?
Your answer: >>you were watching for women
-you were watching for accidents
--and who is more likely to have an accident?
When she's drunk and is trying to do something she doesn't normally do?
Or if she does have a large bladder may be exhibiting less control?<<
For the record I consider that a tad bit of an insult (though you probably did not intended it to be)
I said I was INTERESTED in human urination I did not say that my life CENTERED AROUND it.
I have never even dreamed of picking dates based on bladder capacity and its about the last thing I think of when meeting a new girl (I am not dating now).
When I was a bouncer I never met any of the girls who had accidents in the bar -- other that of offer assistance occsionally.
You imply that I spent my time watching for "weak sistes" i.e., girls who run to the restroom constantly.
Frankly I have a fairly normal life and watching for girls needing to go the the restroom is a pretty minor part in the overall.
I will watch one if I see one -- I do not spend my life looking for them.
Most of the women I dated in college we met in places other than a bar anyway -- in other social settings anyway.
Even if I had picked girls that way I would have gone with the ones with stronger bladders because they are more interesting and would have been more challanging.
Then I mentioned a little informal poll that I have been taking over the years at meetings on the road about sex and trips to the restroom.
You replied thusly:
Didn't you just say the meetings were more than 50% female. Did it occure to you that being more incline to delay peeing infavor of other things might have meant more of those women didn't go before the meeting...or may have gone without peeing since breakfast?<<
What sense does that make? So then these women would find it better to get up in a middle of meeting an go rather than the privacy of their hotel room before they can down? I doubt it.
You asked about toilet cams. I have never seen one installed -- if fact if you do see one you should report it as they are obviously invasions of privacy.
But they are not very easy to see. I think Chuck Berry ('50s rock star) was arrestrd and charged a few years ago when one was found at his house and it had been there for years film people at his parties. I'm thinking he was interested in men though? can not recall.
Some of these films might be fake but the one I saw obviously was not - it had main steam folks coming in and going.
Calloway,
So, were else do you find my comments implausible...?
I am not mad at you...
I am just curious to know....
~~~Trina
Thanks!
Trina -- hey wow thanks for reading our story cause we thought that you were cool and sure new a lot about this stuff.
my g/f and i are still very cool --even better than ever. shes not a looser but i just lke to get on her case about somethin man cause she is always on mine.
i glad that we saw this poll cause since our contest we have been hot -- everybody should try that man.
female bladder size is larger according to weight
This is one of the better discussions on Mr. Poll. Usually it involves all sorts of junk, but there is some useful info in this discussion. First of all women are generally smaller then men. I weigh about 125 pounds and my brothers weigh close to 200. Therefore if I drink a 2 liter coke or some beer my favorite, my body can not absorb it as fast as my brothers or husband. Therefore if I drink the same amount in lets say two hours I will have to pee it out sooner. I do not metabolize it, it just comes out. That is the way the body works when it is saturated with fluids.
However women often must be smart in that they must go when they see a chance, and not wait for that dirty toilet, afterall for most of us gals we can not just go behind a tree. But all things being equal I do believe that women have larger bladders compared to their body weight. Also can hold it much better then men, but some women simply wait too long, therefore must do something stupid etc. As far as pee distance and speed, few men could beat an active women. Yes women pee much further and quicker then men. It is also interesting to know how many guys and gals got to know one another by peeing out in the woods etc. Growing up on a farm I had lots of private fun watching my brothers peeing against the fense or trees, and sometimes I got in the act, althought I usually tried to do it when nobody was around.
Our View Again!
Sorry about that first post! I wanted to save and come back to finish it later. Can't do that here.
Anyway I read this poll and this discussion last night and my wife read it today. We are 20-something. We live in a major southeastern metro area.
We were interested in the results as we have played water water sports since we first met in college and we still play. This note reflects both of our opinions on this topic.
First we think that the MisterPoll is a silly concept - someone else already said why and we agree.
But it started a lot of interesting discussion. In this we learned a lot about both males and females -- but more about females. We have some problems with some of the comments and we take that up at the end.
Most of it --the technical stuff from Fargo we did not really know those exact medical facts but we knew it was the case in the real world of water sports amoung people -- if you know what we mean.
In this note I am Jack and my wife is Jill -- obviously not our real names,
Anyway over the years we have played all kinds of games based on pee and peeing.
We learned that Jack could hold up to a 1 L of urine (maximum 1.1L) in his bladder if he was feeling good (i.e., if he does not have gas or a cold). But generally he is most comfortable letting his urine go at around 0.9L or so. He can hold to almost that level (0.9 L) with just his bladder holding it.
When we started these games in college about 6 years ago Jill could hold a bit over 600 mL -- but over the years she can now usually hold closer to 700 mL. She is not as effective at holding urine with only her bladder muscles as Jack. Fargo gave a possible reason for this.
We call holding with just your bladder as "hands free" holding.
We do not do hold-it anymore because it is the least fun of all the games in our opinion. Also it takes up time and is not as erotic to us
But when we did them (back in college) we tried to make them very competetive by having Jill empty her bladder some time after Jack. So for example, if Jill would empty her bladder about 30 minutes after Jack had started holding this gave her a better chance of winning even with a smaller bladder.
This way it was pretty even between us. If Jill emptied her bladder 1.5 hour after Jack she could often hold it longer. That is Jack had a one and a half hours worth of urine before Jill started to hold.
In distance Jack used to win all the time by squirting his urine about 5 feet. Jill has perfected her technique and can usually send her urine out about a foot farther than that now -- her technique is best when her bladder is full.
Jack (an engineer) analysed this situation and realized that the main problem he had was his prostate. The prostate causes part of the male urethra to be compressed so that what comes out his pens is really the flow coming from a smaller pipe (the prostate) to a larger pipe the end of his pens. By pinching the end of his member and then straining he can "equalize the pressure" and then sudden releasing can project little shots of urine over 15 feet! So far Jill has not figured how to match this one! But she is trying.
Jill wins for urine delivery and she can pee 100 ml of urine in less than 5 seconds in a big gush. It usually takes Jack about 7 or more seconds to do it. Jill's all time record is 500 mL in 14 seconds.
We do not do competition things too much anymore but we do like pee on each other mostly in the shower or some other place where there is not a mess to clean up. Also sometimes we like to play-act desperation outside in private places with our clothes on and then have accidents.
Another thing that we like is to "order' the other one to pee. So if we are both in the shower one can order the other to pee and the command must be obeyed immediately if possible -- having trouble getting the flow started is not an accepted excuse.
We enjoyed all the notes. Calloway and Trina why did you try to alter your bladders? What is wrong with living with what nature provided you as long as it is adequate?
For example some like spartanadam tried to increase his so that he would not be inconvenienced and embarrassed in public. We understand that.
But we do not see the need for a 1.5L (or greater!!) bladder capacity -- if you have it fine but to practice holding for several years to get it? Why? We are not being critical we just do not see an obvious reason for it. OK? NO offense intended. Its a free country.
Also Trina, we think that you are making much too much of the social or whatever "constraints on women" as regards their freedom to urinate.
Women are as free as men to pee when and where they want to. Any women can learn to pee in public as discreetly as a man -- even more so if she has a skirt on. Jill has peed almost standing right along side others when in a long skirt. No one knew.
To use this as a reason to practice holding urine for all hours is not valid in our opinion. It seems unhealthy that a women might think "well, gee I'm in public place so I have the "reputation of womenkind" to uphold therefore I'd better not pee until no one is looking.
That is nonsense to us. We believe that people should try to minimize hang ups not create new ones.
So to say that girls have to practice holding their urine until they are ready to pee in their pants is not true for the vast majority of women. At least Jill does not believe it was a problem for her or her friends.
Your friend who would try to go a whole day having to pee should have sought some counseling in our opinion.
This boarders on masochism (again, in our opinion) -- unless there was some reason for it.
No matter a person says what going with a full bladder from 10am to 6pm can not be pleasant -- it must be painful so what is the purpose? If she says that she enjoyed the sensation we would say that is the proof of the point that we are making.
At least one other person expressed this too.
Besides she must have had continuous bladder infections!
We agree too that this poll interesting but totally meaningless and really complete nonsense. But it is a topic of interest for many.
